Step 01
Exploring the market
To start the product discovery process, we are:
- Conducting surveys and user interviews to obtain valuable insights into their preferences, pain points and aspirations
- Continuously asking ‘Why?’ to uncover deeper insights and align solutions more closely to user needs
- Observing users and creating empathy maps to help identify key insights.
- Leveraging other tools: market and competitor analysis
Step 02
Defining the problem
Having generated the necessary knowledge and insights, the next step involves:
- Analysing the user research data and finding patterns that emerge
- Prioritising the most important problems for users, enabling us to decide what to focus on
- Clearly defining our hypothesis before jumping to a solution
Step 03
Ideating and prioritising
We will then move towards working on a solution. To do this, we will:
- Gather ideas from our team (using brainstorming, mind mapping or similar techniques) on how to respond to the users’ problem or need
- Prioritise the idea we believe will deliver most value for users
- Plan the prototyping and testing of our hypothesis
Step 04
Prototyping and validation
We are now ready to put our ideas into action. At this stage we will:
- Build a quick prototype
- Test and validate it so we can be sure we’re working on a product that meets users’ needs and will deliver value
- Go through several iterations of this stage, if necessary, before we’re ready to move to product delivery
